Syrian Designer Manal Ajaj Makes Paris Haute Couture Debut with

Woman of Light” Collection

Syrian fashion designer Manal Ajaj has reached a defining milestone in her creative journey,

becoming one of the first Syrian designers to present a full couture collection in Paris,

unveiling her latest work, “Woman of Light,” during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week

Spring/Summer 2026.

More than a runway presentation, the show unfolded as an artistic narrative exploring

feminine resilience, identity, and transformation. Ajaj introduced 27 couture gowns that

seamlessly fused Eastern elegance with contemporary confidence, offering a visual story of

a woman’s passage from shadow to illumination without surrendering softness or romance.

The collection was staged at the Musée national des arts asiatiques –Guimet, one of Paris’

most culturally significant institutions. The venue enriched the presentation with a

symbolic depth, as the runway evolved from darkness toward light, mirroring the emotional

and psychological journey embedded within the collection’s concept.

Speaking about the showcase, Manal Ajaj described the event as a dialogue between fashion and

culture rather than a traditional presentation of garments. She noted that each design was

conceived as an independent story carrying themes of strength, beauty, and self-

Reconciliation.

“Woman of Light” stood out through a refined balance of structured and fluid silhouettes,

celebrating the female form with understated sophistication. Ajaj worked with airy summer

fabrics including crepe, taffeta, lace, and mousseline, enhanced by intricate hand

embroidery that appeared as delicate traces of light across the garments.

The colour narrative progressed from shadowed tones to luminous hues, visually

expressing inner transformation. Gold, copper, and pearlescent ivory were complemented

by floral blues, layered purples, and gilded pinks.

`

The presentation concluded with a symbolic white bridal gown, representing not merely a

beginning, but the culmination of a woman’s journey into self-defined light within one of the

world’s most influential haute couture capitals.

A Career Defined by Cultural Storytelling: Ajaj’s Paris debut continues a distinguished

international career rooted in cultural storytelling. She was recognised as the Youngest

Fashion Designer in the Middle East in 2002 and gained global attention with her Berlin

show “Alphabet of Jasmine” in 2015.

Beyond the runway, Manal Ajaj contributes academically as a consultant within the Fashion Design

Department at the American University in the Emirates and serves as a certified expert in

fashion design cases before specialised courts.
